WILKES-BARRE – The Colonels hosted Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) rival Delaware Valley Saturday afternoon for a Senior Day showdown at the Marts Center.  The match was also the Colonels season opener
 
The Colonels (1-0, 1-0 MAC) earned a 29-19 victory over the Aggies (1-2, 1-2) in their 2020-2021 season opening match.

After two forfeits in the first two weight classes, the Colonels won the 149 match with senior Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) earning a decision and three points for the squad, followed up by junior Liam Flaherty (Needmore, PA/Southern Fulton) earning a technical fall to push Wilkes to 20.  Sophomore James Geiger (Dallas, PA/Dallas) earned a fall at 3:17 to push Wilkes to 26 points on the afternoon to effectively clinch the match for the Colonels.
 
Delaware Valley earned a fall followed by a major decision, but senior Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) earned a decision to snap the streak. 
 
The Colonels are scheduled to return to action next Saturday at home once again.  They host conference foe Stevens with a noon start time at the Marts Center.
