• The Wilkes University wrestling team is set to host No. 9 Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. inside the Marts Center.
 
• Wilkes opened its season with a 29-19 victory over Delaware Valley University last Saturday.
 
• Sophomore James Geiger (Dallas, PA/Dallas) picked up a fall at 165-pounds against Chris Richardson of Delaware Valley in 3:17. It was Geiger's debut match in the Navy and Gold after transferring from Keystone College.
 
• Junior Liam Flaherty (Needmore, PA/Southern Fulton) dominated his opponent to pick up a 16-1 technical fall in 3:20 in the 157-pound bout.
 
• Seniors Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) and Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) won their matches by decision. O'Connor defeated his opponent with a 12-9 decision at 149-pounds and Almeky won 8-3 at 197-pounds.
 
• Freshman Matthew Martin (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) and junior Nicholas Bauer (Coplay, PA/Wyoming Seminary) won at 125 and 133 by Delaware Valley forfeits.
 
• Six Colonels won exhibition matches against Delaware Valley last Saturday. First-year Frankie Gabriel (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) (149) and junior Cody Dix (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) (157) won by fall. Senior Brock Horton (Towanda, PA/Athens) (141), junior Allen Kokilananda (Springfield, VA/Annandale) (141), first year Alexis Perez (Mahanoy City, PA/Mahanoy Area) (184), and first year Nevin Rauch (New Columbia, PA/Milton) (285) all won by decision.
 
• The Colonels 2020-21 roster goes 32 deep with a class breakdown of: 4 seniors; 7 juniors; 10 sophomores; and 11 first-years.
 
• The roster features athletes from five states: Pennsylvania – 15; New Jersey – 13; New York – 2; Maine – 1; Virginia – 1
 
• Stevens is 0-4 overall with two losses to No. 13 TCNJ and also dropping matches to Castleton and Messiah. The Ducks are ranked in a tie at No. 9 by the NWCA in the poll that came out on February 26th.
 
• Brett Kaliner is ranked No. 1 at 149-pounds according to the NWCA and No. 1 according to d3wrestle.com, Michael Dooley is ranked No. 3 at 197-pounds in the d3wrestle.com poll and No. 4 in the NWCA and Kyle Slendorn is ranked No. 8 at 141-pounds (NWCA) and No. 3 (d3wrestle.com).
