Elmira Blanks Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey 7-0

WILKES-BARRE – Elmira University controlled much of a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest at the Toyota SportsPlex on Saturday afternoon to win 7-0 over the Wilkes University women's ice hockey team. Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) made a season high 53 saves on 60 shots by the Soaring Eagles.

Wilkes dropped to 0-8-0 overall and in the conference while Elmira improved to 8-1-0 overall and 8-0-0 in the UCHC.

Elmira got two goals in the first period, two in the second and three in the third.

The Colonels were able to generate 18 shots on goal led by six from first-year defenseman Kiera Lacombe (Buckeye, AZ). Sophomore forward Quinn Rodefeld (Blaine, MN) added four shots on goal.

Wilkes blocked 23 shots as a team led by nine from sophomore defenseman Abigail Barcless (Hamilton, NJ).

Junior forward Laurenne Fraser (Salt Lake City, UT) was 10-for-20 in the faceoff circle for Wilkes and junior forward Shauna Tubbs (Maumee, OH) was 8-for-13. Elmira won the faceoff battle 40-28.

Morgan Mordini and Tristen Tolan scored two goals each for the Soaring Eagles. Catherine Champagne earned the victory in net with the 18 save shutout.

Wilkes returns to the ice for a UCHC road contest at Nazareth College next Friday at 5:00 p.m.
