EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team opened its 2021 campaign in fine fashion blanking cross-town rival King's College 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Kirby Park courts.
 
The Colonels stormed out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play before securing straight set wins in all six singles flights.
 
Dasha Yakhnis (Verona, NJ/Verona), Dagney Markle (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford), Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees), Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock), Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) and Alexa Cieri (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) were all straight set winners for Wilkes in singles play.
 
Wilkes returns to action next Saturday with a dual match at Messiah College scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
