Wilkes Men's Tennis Posts 6-3 Win at Messiah
GRANTHAM, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team posted a 6-3 victory over non-conference foe Messiah College Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes remained perfect following the road win standing 2-0 on the season. Messiah dropped to 1-1 overall on the year.
Wilkes took a 2-1 lead after doubles play before clinching the match with four-of-six wins in singles competition.
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) was the first singles winner for Wilkes earning a 6-2, 6-4 straight set victory at No. 1.
Matt Angara (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 as Wilkes led 4-3.
Colin Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) then clinched the match for the Colonels with a 6-3 6-0 victory at No. 5.
Jacob Bosler (Elkton, MD/Elkton) rounded out the singles winners for Wilkes with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 6.
The pair of
John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior) and
Jack Maline (Colorado Springs, CO/Northport) won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles before Greenman/
Connor Murphy (Denver, PA/Cocalico) posted an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles,
Wilkes makes its home debut Friday, April 2 when the Colonels host York College (Pa.) at 1:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
