Five Unanswered Goals Lifts Manhattanville Over Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey 5-2
WILKES-BARRE – After Wilkes University's
Shauna Tubbs (Maumee, OH/) scored :14 into the game, visiting Manhattanville College netted five unanswered goals on way to a 5-2 United Collegiate Hockey Conference victory Friday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.
Wilkes dropped to 0-3 on the season while Manhattanville picked up its first victory of the year improving to 1-4 overall.
Tubbs wasted little time giving the Colonels the lead scoring just 14 seconds into the first period off an assist from
Julie Patterson (Trenton, NJ/).
From there, Manhattanville answered back scoring five goals over the rest of the first frame and all of the second period to take a four-goal advantage.
Tubbs notched her second goal of the game at the 12:05 mark of the third period when she found the back of the net off an
Abigail Barcless (Hamilton, NJ) helper.
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI/) finished with 29 saves in net for Wilkes in the defeat.
The two teams meet again tomorrow when the Valiants host Wilkes at 8:10 p.m. in Purchase, N.Y.
