Wilkes Men's Tennis Rolls Past Lycoming 9-0
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team kept its record perfect after posting a 9-0 victory over MAC Freedom opponent Lycoming College in both teams' league openers Saturday afternoon at Brandon Park.
Wilkes improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in MAC Freedom matches while Lycoming dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference matches.
Wilkes went up 3-0 after doubles play and never looked back including a default win at No. 3 pairs. The duo of
Matt Angara (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) and
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) won 8-4 at No. 1 while
Jack Maline (Colorado Springs, CO/Northport) and
Colin Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) finished off a win at No. 2 doubles 8-1.
The Colonels then took all singles flights in straight sets including another forfeit win at No. 6. Gibson, Maline, Angara, Greenman and
Jacob Bosler (Elkton, MD/Elkton) were the singles winners No. 1 through 5 for Wilkes.
Wilkes is back in MAC Freedom action Tuesday when the Colonels host cross-town rival King's College for a match starting at 3:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
