Wilkes Women's Tennis Perfect at Lycoming with 9-0 Victory
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Wilkes University women's tennis team opened MAC Freedom play posting a 9-0 victory at Lycoming College Saturday afternoon at Brandon Park.
With the win Wilkes moved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in MAC Freedom matches while Lycoming slipped to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in league games.
Wilkes opened a 3-0 lead after doubles play only giving up five games through the three matches.
Dasha Yakhnis (Verona, NJ/Verona) and
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) scored an 8-4 win at No. 1 pairs.
Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) and
Dagney Markle (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) went 8-0 at No. 2 before
Alexa Cieri (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) and
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) finished off the sweep for the Colonels with an 8-1 win at No. 3
Wilkes swept all six singles flights in straight sets including one super set at No. 6. Yakhnis, Markle, Malone, Greenman, Klein and Cieri were the winners No. 1 through 6 for Wilkes.
Wilkes is back in action Wednesday hosting cross-town rival King's College at 3:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
