Wilkes Women's Tennis Moves to 5-0 with Blanking of King's
 
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team moved its win streak to five as the Colonels posted a 9-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory over cross-town rival King's College Wednesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
 
Wilkes improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in MAC Freedom games following its second victory over the Monarchs after opening the season with a 9-0 win over its cross-town rivals. King's dropped to 0-4 overall and remains winless at 0-2 in conference matches.
 
Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) and Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) made quick work of its match at No. 3 doubles posting an 8-1 win. Dasha Yakhnis (Verona, NJ/Verona) and Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) finished its match 8-2 at No. 1 pairs before Dagney Markle (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) and Alexa Cieri (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) posted an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles to give the Colonels a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.
 
Klein was the first singles winner for Wilkes as all six Colonels posted straight set victories in the match. Klein won 6-0,6-0 at No. 5 to push the lead to 4-0. Yakhnis then clinched the match quickly after Klein taking her No. 1 singles match by the scores of 6-1, 6-0.
 
Cieri posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 before Markle, Malone and Greenman finished in order at No. 2 through 4.
 
Wilkes continues its home stretch Saturday hosting Arcadia University at 1:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
