Wilkes Men's Tennis Wins 6-1 in Rain Delayed Match Against Arcadia
EDWARDSVILLE – In a day where the weather didn't cooperate throughout, the Wilkes University men's tennis team posted a 6-1 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory over Arcadia University Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
With the win Wilkes pushed its win streak to six standing 6-0 overall and 3-0 in league matches. Arcadia remained winless at 0-5 overall and 0-3 in conference matches.
Wilkes jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play before the rain started and delayed the match for over two hours. The duo of
Colin Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Connor Murphy (Denver, PA/Cocalico) didn't give up a game winning 8-0 at No. 3.
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) and
Matt Angara (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) finished 8-4 at No. 2 before
Jack Maline (Colorado Springs, CO/Northport) and
John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior) scored an 8-6 win at No. 1.
When played resumed,
Jacob Bosler (Elkton, MD/Elkton) posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles pushing the lead to 4-0. Colin Greeman then clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at No. 5. Maline finished off his match at No. 2 winning 6-2, 6-1 to finish off the 6-1 team win.
Wilkes returns to MAC Freedom play Wednesday when the Colonels travel to DeSales University for a match scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Center Valley, Pa.
