Wilkes Men's Tennis Win Streak Ends at Six With Loss at DeSales
CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team saw its win streak end at six after falling 6-3 at host DeSales University Tuesday afternoon at the Bulldogs Tennis Courts.
Wilkes dropped to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in MAC Freedom play while DeSales improved to 6-0 and 4-0 in league matches.
DeSales opened the match with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles before the pairing of
Colin Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Jacob Bosler (Elkton, MD/Elkton) posted an 8-6 win at No. 3 tying the match.
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) and
Matt Angara (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) then gave the Colonels a 2-1 edge after doubles play when they scored an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
DeSales took the advantage back winning No. 3 and No. 4 singles in straight sets before Gibson tied the match at three winning his No. 1 singles match 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
A straight set win at No. 6 gave the Bulldogs a 4-3 advantage before Philip Ritchie edged
Jack Maline (Colorado Springs, CO/Northport) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to clinch the win at No. 2.
Wilkes returns to MAC Freedom play Saturday with a home match against local rival Misericordia University starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
