Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Falls in Regular Season Finale Against Misericordia
EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels hosted the Misericordia Cougars for their regular season finale at the Ralston Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon against their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe.
The Colonels (4-8, 3-5) never got closer than four goals to the Cougars (7-3, 4-2) in a 22-6 loss.
The Cougars scored the first four goals, though goals from junior
Alex Myers (Cortland, NY/Cortland) on the man up at 1:45 left in the first and from junior
Luke Palladino (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) (assisted by senior
Nico Lorenzo (Howell, NJ/Howell)) with 12:50 left in the second put the Colonels within striking distance at 6-2. Misericordia would go on to score eight of the next nine goals to put the game firmly in their hands.
The Cougars outshot the Colonels 63-33 and 42-23 on goal. Palladino led all Colonels with four points on three goals and an assist, while Lorenzo had a pair of goals himself. Myers had a goal and an assist on the afternoon. Four Cougars had five points for the game, with Kyle Vandenberg scoring a team-leading five goals.
The Colonels will wait and see who they will play in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament. The quarterfinals are scheduled for May 1st, time and place to be determined.
