Six from Wilkes Baseball Named All-MAC Freedom
 
ANNVILLE, PA. – After a season in which the Wilkes University baseball team made its first postseason appearance since 2018, six Colonels were named to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) teams, as announced by the conference office Friday morning. The six players are the most named to the All-MAC Freedom list since the Colonels placed six players back in 2015.
 
Sophomore Darren Kerdesky (Dallas, PA/Dallas) and senior Dominick Bayo (Swoyersville, PA/Wyoming Valley West) were each named to the First Team. Junior JT Hibschman (Millville, NJ/Millville) and senior Nick Pronti (Wood-Ridge, NJ/Wood-Ridge) were named to the Second Team while senior Brandon Reno (Hunlock Creek, PA/Northwest Area) and senior Michael Patrizio (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) were named Honorable Mention.
 
Kerdesky earned his first career selection the all-conference team with a standout second season for the Colonels. In 29 games (25 starts), Kerdesky was 32-for-89, a .360 batting average, with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 23 rbi's, scored 19 runs, and had six walks. Kerdesky was hit by five pitches, and sported a .422 on base percentage while slugging .506. In the MAC Freedom, Kerdesky ranked 12th in batting average, was top-20 in hits, rbi's, slugging percentage, and hit-by-pitches.
 
Bayo earned his first career all-conference nod finishing the season 41-for-113 over 30 games, a .363 average, with seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, 27 rbi's, 20 runs scored, six walks, was hit by three pitches, and only stuck out seven times. Bayo finished with a .397 on-base-percentage and a .496 slugging percentage while also earning four sacrifice fly's, seven sacrifice bunts, and six stolen bases. In the conference, Bayo was top-10 in batting average, at-bats, hits, total bases, strikeouts, sacrifice bunts, and stolen bases. Bayo was named the MAC Freedom Player of the Week on April 5th.
 
Hibschman also made his first appearance on all-conference, finishing the season 3-1 with a 3.91 earned run average, allowing 21 earned runs over 48.1 innings across eight starts. He surrendered 40 hits with 29 strikeouts and 24 walks while holding opponents to a .229 average. Hibschman finished first in batting average against in the conference, 11th in wins in the MAC Freedom, sixth in ERA, tied for second in games started, third in innings pitched, 11th in earned runs, and 10th in strikeouts. Hibschman was also named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week on April 26th.
 
Pronti earned his first trip to the all-conference team, building on a strong sophomore and junior season. The senior finished his final season with 33 hits in 111 at-bats, good for a .297 average over 31 starts. The shortstop totaled nine doubles, one triple, four home runs, 33 runs batted in, 24 runs scored, and 16 walks. Pronti added a .376 on-base-percentage, .505 slugging percentage, five sacrifice fly's, and two stolen bases. In the conference, Pronti was tied for second in rbi's, tied for second in sacrifice fly's, sixth in at-bats, tied for sixth in doubles, tied for seventh in total bases (56), tied for eighth in home runs, tied for 13th in walks, tied for 16th in hits, and 17th in slugging.
 
Reno makes his second appearance on the All-MAC Freedom list after being named First Team in 2019. Reno concluded his final season with 33 hits in 104 at-bats for a .317 average across 31 starts. He finished with five doubles, three triples, 25 rbi's, 11 runs scored, six walks, 10 hit-by-pitches, three sacrifice fly's, a .423 slugging percentage, and a .398 on-base-percentage. In the conference, Reno finished tied for second in triples, tied for sixth in hit-by-pitches, tied for 14th in at-bats, tied for 16th in hits, tied for 16th in rbi's, and top-30 in batting average and total bases.
 
Patrizio rounds out the group with his second career listing after being named Honorable Mention in 2018. Patrizio finished his final campaign with 25 hits in 92 at-bats from the top of the batting order for a .272 average across 31 games. He added two doubles, four triples, 11 rbi's, 36 runs scored, 26 walks, five hit-by-pitches, and 16 stolen bases. He finished with a .452 on-base-percentage and a .380 slugging percentage. In the conference, Patrizio was first in triples, first in walks, third in stolen bases, tied for second in runs scored, and 17th in on-base-percentage.
