Marywood Posts 6-0 Victory over Wilkes Field Hockey
SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University field hockey team was defeated 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon by Marywood University at Pacers Field in non-conference action.
Wilkes dropped to 1-6 overall with the loss while Marywood improved to 4-3.
Two penalty stroke goals in the first quarter gave the Pacers the edge they would need in the contest. They went on to add one goal in the second quarter, two in the third and one in the fourth.
The Colonels began to produce offense in the second quarter, finishing with 10 shots, all of which were on goal.
Ali Dunn (Pittston, PA/Pittston) led the way with three of the shots while
Maura Hensel (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) added two.
Carly Eidle (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) made nine saves for the Colonels in the cage and
Olivia Gayoski (Forty Fort, PA/Valley West) added a defensive save.
Marywood led 27-10 in shots, 16-10 in shots-on-goal, and 21-3 in penalty corners for the 60 minutes. Cydney Lahr led the Pacers with two goals and one assist while Mackenzie Hoats added two goals.
Wilkes will open Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play on Saturday when they travel to Arcadia for a 1:00 p.m. game.
