Wilkes Field Hockey Drops MAC Freedom Opener at Arcadia
GLENSIDE, PA – The Wilkes University field hockey team opened Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Saturday afternoon with an 8-0 loss at Arcadia University.
Wilkes fell to 1-7 overall and to 0-1 in the conference with the loss. Arcadia improved to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Arcadia jumped out early in the contest and led 7-0 following three quarters.
Wilkes was able to collect three shots with one on goal from
Ali Dunn (Pittston, PA/Pittston) in the fourth quarter but the Knights found the lone goal on their five shots of the final 15 minutes.
Morghan Murphy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) had the other two shots for the Colonels.
Carly Eidle (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) made nine saves for Wilkes.
Regan Sammons led Arcadia with four goals and one assist. Gracie Fenner earned the victory with one save.
Wilkes will resume non-conference action when the Colonels return to Schmidt Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. game against Elizabethtown College on Wednesday.
