First Half Outburst Carries Wilkes Men's Soccer to Victory over Immaculata

EDWARDSVILLE – Three first-half goals carried the Wilkes University men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over visiting Immaculata University at Bruggeworth Field in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels improved to 6-2-0 on the 2021 season with the victory.

Andrew Reichard (Easton, PA/Easton Area) got the scoring started in the 24th minute with an assist from Matthew Horwedel (Delanson, NY/Schalmont Senior).

Danny McGinley (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley) doubled the lead in the 35th minute, helped by a Ryan Marr (Taneytown, MD/Francis Scott Key) assist.

McGinley and Marr teamed up again in the 40th minute when Marr fought along the goal line to get the pass off to McGinley, who made a flick with the back of his heel to tap the ball in and give Wilkes a 3-0 cushion.

Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) earned the victory playing the first 45'. Nick Kinzler (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) played the first 31:43 of the second half making one save while Russell Rauh (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington Senior) covered the final 13:17, stopping two shots.

The Colonels finished the game with an 18-9 advantage in shot attempts.

Wilkes returns to the pitch on Tuesday when it will host Scranton for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest at Bruggeworth Field.
