WESTMINSTER, MD – Xavier Guerreiro (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) notched the game-winner with just under 16 minutes left in the match as visiting Wilkes University escaped with a 1-0 shutout victory over host McDaniel College Saturday afternoon at Green Terror Soccer Complex.
 
Wilkes improved to 2-0 overall on the season while McDaniel dropped to 0-1 after its season opener.
 
Guerreiro tallied his second goal in as many games when he scored off an assist by Gabriel Crowley (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) at the 74:06 mark of the second half.
 
Wilkes held an 11-5 shot advantage in the contest with each team garnering three corner kick attempts each.
 
Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) continued his fine play in net for the Colonels playing all 90 minutes in net making one save to earn the shutout victory.
 
Wilkes looks to continue its unbeaten streak on Tuesday when the Colonels host Juniata College at 7:00 p.m. at Bruggeworth Field.
