Wilkes Wrestling Cruises to 37-9 Victory Over Penn College
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University wrestling team used six extra-point victories to cruise to a 37-9 win over Penn College on Saturday afternoon at the Marts Center.
 
Wilkes improved to 8-4 overall and pushed its dual match win-streak to four dating back to January 23. Penn College dropped to 3-8 in dual match competition.
 
Austin Fashouer (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) began the scoring in the match for Wilkes at 125-pounds earning a 9-2 decision over Ryan Berstler. Jack Bauer (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) followed with a 9-5 decision win over Patrick Snoke at 133-pounds to push the Colonel lead to 6-0 after two bouts.
 
Penn College answered back to take its first advantage of the match using a fall at 141-pounds and a 9-4 decision at 149-pounds to take a slim 9-6 lead.
 
Wilkes then rattled off five straight extra-point wins including three technical falls and a fall.  At 157-pounds Benjamin Griffith (Fogelsville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) earned a 20-5 technical fall in 6:39 giving the lead back to Wilkes for good at 11-9. At 165-pounds Charles Everdale (Freeland, PA/Hazleton Area) followed with another technical fall going all seven minutes winning 22-7. Christopher Nuss (Gore, VA/James Wood) made it three straight technical falls cruising to a 16-0 win in 7:00 at 174-pounds.
 
Colton Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) continued his dominance at 184-pounds earning his 14th fall of the season pinning Garrett Storch in 4:08 as the lead grew to 27-9 clinching the match in the process. Cameron Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) earned a 14-5 major decision at 197-pounds before Nevin Rauch (New Columbia, PA/Milton) was awarded a forfeit win at heavyweight to round out the scoring for Wilkes in the match.
 
The Colonels remain idle until next Sunday, February 6 when they welcome the University of Scranton for a dual match on Senior Day.
