Wilkes Women's Soccer Unable to Get Offense Going as They Fall to DeSales 3-0

EDWARDSVILLE – Wilkes University women's soccer could not get their offense to capitalize on opportunities as they would fall to DeSales University 3-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action on Saturday at Bruggeworth Field on Homecoming weekend.

Wilkes would fall to 2-7-1, 0-1 in MAC Freedom action, while DeSales, ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Region IV poll, improves their record to 6-2-2, 1-0 in conference play.

The first half saw both teams hold one another offensively, as DeSales took four shots in the first 45 minutes, while Wilkes only took three during that time. The Colonels would get a shot that would be reversed as DeSales goalie held the ball, which was taken away from her hands. The Bulldogs would capitalize, as a pass went off a Colonels defender that DeSales would shoot in the left side of the net to take an early lead in the 28th minute, where the score would stay the same to halftime.

The second half saw both teams push the gas in terms of offensive play, as DeSales would outshoot Wilkes 12-9, with both teams not letting up the entire game. The Bulldogs would score in the 56th and 62nd minute to extend their lead 3-0 and take it to the end of the game.

Erica Feese (State College, PA/State College Area) led the Colonels with four shots on the day, with Kiana Jedlicka (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) and Madison Straub (Franklin, NJ/Franklin) following suit with two shots apiece. Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished the day with eight saves.

Wilkes will go on the road this Tuesday as they head to Lycoming College as they continue MAC Freedom action at 4:00 p.m.
