Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls to Lycoming
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Wilkes University women's soccer is unable to capitalize on opportunities as they fall to Lycoming College in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action on Tuesday afternoon.
Wilkes falls to 2-8-1 on the season while going 0-2 in MAC Freedom play, while Lycoming improves to 8-2-2 in the season and 2-0 in conference action.
The first half saw the Colonels push the pace, outshooting Lycoming 7-3. The Warriors would make the most of their shots, as they would get a score in the 16th minute, as the shot hit the near right corner of the net for Lycoming.
The second half saw the Warriors pick up their own pace, outshooting the Colonels 8-6. Wilkes had an opportunity early on, when Cate Schoeniger (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) had her shot saved, Kiana Jedlicka (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) went to take the rebound and try to score for the Colonels but was not able to make it past the goalie. Another Jedlicka shot later in the half was saved once again, along with Cesia Diaz (Belleville, NJ/Belleville). Lycoming would eventually pull away in the 87th minute with a corner kick that turned into a goal, giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead, they would keep intact in the final three minutes of the game.
Diaz, Jedlicka, and Erica Feese (State College, PA/State College Area) all took three shots on the day. Goalkeeper Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished with four saves.
Wilkes returns to action this Saturday as they continue MAC Freedom play when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at 2:30 p.m.
