Arcadia Pulls Away with Three Fourth Quarter Goals against Wilkes Field Hockey
GLENSIDE, PA – The Wilkes University field hockey team trailed 2-0 before host Arcadia University scored three goals in the fourth quarter to seal its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) victory over the Colonels on Saturday afternoon at JLW Field.
Wilkes dropped to 2-11 overall and to 0-6 in the MAC Freedom with the road loss. Arcadia improved to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the league.
The first quarter went scoreless before Regan Sammons scored 6:21 into the second quarter to give the Knights the lead. The game would head into half with Arcadia leading 1-0.
The Knights added a goal in the third and then three more within a span of 2:36 of game time to pull away to the 5-0 victory.
Carly Eidle (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) made 13 saves for Wilkes in the cage and
Maura Hensel (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) made her sixth defensive save of the season. Gracie Fenner earned the win in the goal for Arcadia.
The Knights led 33-1 in shots, 19-0 in shots on goal, and 14-1 in penalty corners.
Wilkes returns to action tomorrow for its final non-conference game of the season and also Senior Day as the Colonels host Bryn Athyn College at 1:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
