Wilkes Men's Soccer Falls 5-0 at New York University
BRONX, NY – The Wilkes University men's soccer team fell 5-0 in its final non-conference game of the season on Saturday evening at New York University in a game played at Gaelic Park.
With the loss Wilkes dropped to 7-8-1 overall and NYU improved to 7-4-2 with the home victory.
The Violets scored two early goals in the eighth and 19th minutes as they would take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
NYU added goals in the 57th, 58th, and 71st minutes of the second half for the 5-0 victory.
The Violets outshot the Colonels 27-4 and 13-2 on goal. NYU led 9-3 in corner kicks.
Andrew Slusser (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood Area) led Wilkes with two shots.
Nick Kinzler (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) made four saves in the first half for Wilkes while
Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) also stopped four shots in the second half. Luca Mancuso and Chaz Bond combined for the shutout with one save each as Mancuso played 74 minutes.
The Colonels get back to Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. for a road game at FDU-Florham. Wilkes is 4-2-0 in conference heading into the final two games of the regular season with playoff positioning on the line.
