Wilkes Women's Soccer Earns 2-0 Victory Over Mount Saint Vincent on Senior Day

EDWARDSVILLE – Wilkes University women's soccer got two first half goals to lift them over College of Mount Saint Vincent 2-0 to earn a non-conference Victory on Senior Day at Bruggeworth Field.

Wilkes improves their record to 4-10-2 on the season, while Mount Saint Vincent falls to 10-4 on the year.

Both teams took their time in the first ten minutes of the game, only taking one shot each during that duration. Kiana Jedlicka (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) would break the slow start at the 11th minute as she took a pass from Erica Feese (State College, PA/State College Area) and hit the right side of the goal as Wilkes would go up 1-0 in the game.

Feese would get her own goal in the 18th minute as she took a long pass from Katie Sites (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford Area) and hit her shot past the goalie near the right side of the goal to make it a 2-0 lead for Wilkes. The Colonels would go on the defense through the rest of the first half, holding the Dolphins to only two shots in the first half to Wilkes' five.

The second half saw both teams get their momentum on the offensive side, as Wilkes outshot Mount Saint Vincent 10-5 on the day. The Colonels kept most opportunities down for the Dolphins, with goalie Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) holding off a potential goal in the 82nd minute as she jumped and hit the ball in the air away to keep Wilkes lead afloat to the end of the game.

Feese finished the day with a goal and an assist, with Jedlicka earning a goal while Sites had a assist as well. Landis ended the day with four saves.

Before the game, Wilkes recognized Feese, Jedlicka, Hannah Hart (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), Taylor Reiff (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley), Hayli Akakpo-Martin (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area), and Kailee Harwick (Souderton, PA/Souderton) today as they honored their seniors on Senior Day.

Wilkes will return to Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action as they travel to FDU-Florham on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
