Wilkes Women's Soccer Drops MAC Freedom Match to Stevens
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's soccer team lost a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contest to visiting Stevens Institute of Technology 5-0 at Bruggeworth Field Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes fell to 0-3-0 in the conference and 2-9-1 overall with the home loss. Stevens stayed unbeaten in MAC Freedom play at 3-0-0 and moved to 4-5-3 overall.
The Ducks scored three first half goals off the feet of Rachel Rouse, Jana Mucci, and Elaine Kooiker.
Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) made seven saves for the Colonels in the first half.
Rouse scored her second of the game in the 58th minute and Mucci added her second in the 70th to make it 5-0.
Lauren Sweeney (West Chester, PA/West Chester Rustin) made two saves in the second half for Wilkes. Dana Perry earned the win for Stevens with one save in the first half. Kendra Donley and Zoe Hindman split the second half time in goal for the Ducks to help preserve the combined team shutout.
Stevens led 24-2 in shots, 14-1 in shots on goal, and 7-1 in corner opportunities.
The Colonels continue MAC Freedom play with a game at cross-town rival King's College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
