Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Settles for Tie with King's

PITTSTON, PA – Down 2-0 early in the second period, the visiting Wilkes University women's ice hockey team stormed back with two goals to earn a tie with cross-town rival King's College Wednesday night at the Revolution Ice Center. King's earned the extra point in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) standings winning the shootout 1-0.

Wilkes moved its overall record to 2-5-1 and stand 2-2-1 in UCHC play. King's earned its first points of the season moving to 0-8-1 overall and 0-6-1 in UCHC contests.

King's opened the scoring with a goal 9:11 into the first period as Jordan Dittmar scored off assists from Amanda Sokol and Issy Lebrun. The Monarchs extended their lead to 2-0 2:10 into the second frame as Sokol scored unassisted.

Wilkes began its comeback later in the second period as Bella Kaczorowski (Anchorage, AK) found the back of the net unassisted at 6:33.

Kaczorowski provided the equalizer late in the third period ripping a shot past the King's goalie thanks to a helper from Kiera Lacombe (Buckeye, AZ/) which sent the game into overtime.

The two goals gave Kaczorowski seven for the season, a new single season program record.

After a scoreless five minute extra period, King's earned the extra point taking the shootout when their second shooter scored. All three Wilkes skaters were unable to beat the Monarch goalie in the shootout.

Addy Olson (Naples, FL/) finished with 27 saves in net for Wilkes.

Wilkes is back on the road on Friday with a MAC and UCHC matchup at Stevenson University starting at 7:00 p.m.
