Wilkes Women's Basketball Cruises to Second MAC Freedom Victory with 84-20 Decision Over FDU-Florham
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's basketball team raced out to a 32-6 lead after one quarter and never looked back on way to an 84-20 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory over visiting FDU-Florham Saturday afternoon at the Marts Center.
 
Wilkes improved to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in MAC Freedom games following the home victory. FDU-Florham remained winless on the season falling to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in league contests.
 
The Colonel lead ballooned to 59-11 at the half as Wilkes shot 40.5 percent (34-84) from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers in their highest output of the season. The also dominated the paint scoring 38 points while converting 19 points via the fast break. The defense was also stout as 26 FDU-Florham turnovers resulted in 28 more points for Wilkes.
 
In total 13 different Colonels reached the scoring column in the home victory led by Brenna Babcock's (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) 16 points and five rebounds. Babcock was perfect from the floor finishing 7-for-7 including 1-for-1 from long range. Nadia Evanosky (Dallas, PA/Dallas) followed with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists while Reagan Holden (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Wilkes-Barre Area) poured in a career-best 12 points on four three-pointers.
 
Wilkes outrebounded the Devils 69-37 using the advantage on the glass to control the tempo of the game. Tess Edwards (Benton, PA/Northwest Area) led Wilkes with a career high 11 boards.

The Colonels 27 total assists tied a program record as Julia Marino (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) led the way with nine.
 
Wilkes returns to non-conference action next Saturday when the Colonels travel to Widener University for a matchup at 1:00 p.m. in Chester, Pa.
