ITHACA,NY – No. 26 Ithaca College used extra-point victories in five of the ten bouts on way to a 30-12 win over visiting Wilkes University Friday night.
 
Wilkes fell to 9-5 overall in dual matches on the season while Ithaca improved to 10-4 on the year.
 
Ithaca began the match with back-to-back falls at 125 and 133-pounds respectively to race out to a 12-0 lead. Josef Lundin (Edmonton, AB/Vimy Ridge Academy) received a forfeit win at 141-pounds to put the Colonels on the board trailing 12-6 through three bouts.
 
Ithaca extended its advantage at 149 and 157-pounds using consecutive major decisions to push the lead to 20-6 halfway through the match.
 
At 165-pounds James Geiger (Dallas, PA/Dallas) earned a hard-fought 6-5 decision as the bout finished tied at five with the riding time going to Geiger to secure the victory. Wilkes continued to climb back into the match as Christopher Nuss (Gore, VA/James Wood) scored a 5-2 decision win over Adrian Rosario-Beato to pull the Colonels to within eight at 20-12 with three bouts remaining.
 
In the feature bout of the night at 184-pounds, Ithaca's No. 4 ranked Chibueze Chukwuezi outlasted No. 14 Colton Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) in overtime 3-1. Both wrestled to a 1-1 draw with each garnering escape points before Chukwuezi claimed the decision win with a takedown early in the overtime session.
 
Ithaca then closed out the match with a major decision (14-5) at 197-pounds before a 12-6 decision at heavyweight.
 
Wilkes returns to the mat Thursday when the Colonels travel across town for a dual matchup with King's College scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
