Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Falls at Utica
UTICA, N.Y. – The Wilkes University Colonels women's ice hockey squad traveled to face the Utica Pioneers in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) battle Friday afternoon.
The Colonels (3-15, 3-13 UCHC) couldn't muster much against the Pioneers (19-3, 16-1), receiving votes in the latest USCHO.com national poll, and fell 12-1.
The Pioneers scored the first three goals in the game, but the Colonels struck at 8:52 in the second period with
Kendall Castro (Killingworth, CT) getting assists from
Sarah Uhall (Greensburg, PA/) and
Julie Patterson (Trenton, NJ). The Pioneers would go on to score nine uninterrupted goals on their way to victory.
Senior
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) recorded a season high 67 saves in defeat, while Utica outshot Wilkes 79-11. She was one save shy of tying her career high. Uhall's assist was her first point in the Navy and Gold. The two will meet up once more tomorrow at Utica, with first puck drop scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
