Wilkes Basketball Concludes Regular Season with Trip to Stevens
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's and men's basketball teams are set to travel to Stevens for a pair of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contests Saturday in Hoboken, N.J. The women's game will tip at 1:00 p.m. followed by the men's contest at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes enters the conference matchup against Stevens tied for sixth place with a 6-9 record in the MAC Freedom and at 7-14 overall after a 58-52 loss against King's on Tuesday night. The Colonels are 3-7 on the road this season. Wilkes dropped the home matchup against the Ducks 76-51 at the Marts Center on 1/15.
 
Katelyn Kinczel (Highland Heights, OH/Mayfield) leads Wilkes and 11th in the MAC Freedom with 10.8 points-per-game (ppg). She is fourth in the league with 2.4 made three pointers per-game and is fifth in the conference with a .344 three-point shooting percentage. Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) (Verona, NJ/Verona) is second on the team with 7.9 ppg and leads the Colonels with 5.8 rebounds-per-game (rpg).
 
Julia Marino (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Township) is second in the conference with 4.1 assists-per-game (apg) totaling 77 for the season. Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) is second on the Colonels with 4.8 rpg and is tied for second in the MAC Freedom with 1.7 blocks-per-game (bpg) as she has totaled 33 this season. Marino and Shober are tied for third on the team with 6.8 ppg.
 
Wilkes is seventh of nine teams in the MAC Freedom with a 52.9 scoring average and are eighth defensively allowing 62.6 ppg.
 
Stevens comes into the matchup having clinched the second seed in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.  Stevens is 12-3 in conference and 17-5 overall, with a 9-1 record at home.
 
The Ducks have two scorers in the top ten in the MAC Freedom, with Jess Broad averaging 13.6 ppg, good for ninth, and Allie Moss averaging 11.2 ppg, good for tenth.  Broad is second in the conference with a .484 field goal percentage, while Moss is shooting .421, good for sixth.  Moss shoots .410 from beyond the arc, topping the conference.
 
Stevens is third in the conference with 64.8 ppg as a team, and second defensively with 52.0 ppg allowed.
 
The Ducks lead the series 3-0 dating back to the 2019-2020 season.
 
Men's Preview:
Wilkes has clinched the seventh seed in the MAC Freedom playoffs, sitting with a 5-10 conference record and an 8-15 overall record after a 78-68 overtime victory over King's Tuesday night.  The Colonels are 5-6 away from home and lost 77-57 against the Ducks at the Marts Center on 1/15.  The Colonels and Ducks will meet twice in a row, as the Colonels will travel to Hoboken, N.J. next Wednesday for conference playoff action. 
 
Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) has recorded seven double-double performances in the past eight games. The sophomore is the MAC Freedom leader with 16.8 ppg and his 9.4 rpg rank fourth in the league. Fisher is sixth in the league with 1.6 bpg, tied for sixth with 1.5 steals-per-game, and eighth with a .488 field goal percentage.
 
Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) is tied for third in the league in scoring at 14.6 ppg. He is also tied for ninth with 6.3 rpg. Marshall is tied for sixth in the conference with 3.6 apg and is ninth with a .484 field goal percentage.
 
Matthew Davidheiser (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) is third on the team with 10.0 ppg. Davidheiser leads the Colonels with 37 made three pointers and is second in the league with a .435 three-point shooting percentage. Sean Coller (Hershey, PA/Hershey) (31 made threes), Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) (26), and Nickerson DeMelfi (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park) (25), have also made an impact from beyond the arc for the Colonels this season.
 
Wilkes is sixth in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense at 71.6 ppg while ranking fifth in scoring defense at 70.8 ppg.
 
Stevens enters the matchup with an 11-4 record in conference play and a 12-8 record overall.  The Ducks have clinched the second seed and a rematch with the Colonels in the first round of the MAC Freedom playoffs.
 
Alec DiPietrantonio leads the squad with 13.8 ppg, tied for fifth in the MAC Freedom as a whole, and shoots .531 from the field, fourth in the MAC Freedom.  He is also third in the conference and leads the team with 10.9 rpg and is seventh in the conference with 1.4 bpg.  Jack Spellman is fifth in the conference with 9.0 rpg, sixth in the conference with .507 shooting percentage, and first in the conference with 2.7 bpg.  Matt Kachelries leads the conference with 5.7 apg, while Matt Crowley is tied for fifth with 3.6 apg.
 
Stevens is fifth in the MAC Freedom with 72.1 ppg and is sixth allowing 73.5 ppg.
 
The Colonels are 3-2 in the series since 2019-20.
