Third Period Comeback Falls Short for Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey
HERSHEY, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels women's ice hockey squad traveled to face United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) foe Lebanon Valley in the first of a season-ending home and away series Friday afternoon.
The Colonels (3-18, 3-16 UCHC) fell behind the Flying Dutchmen (7-13-1, 6-12-1) 3-0, and a two-goal third period left the Navy and Gold just shy of their conference foe at 3-2 at the final horn.
The Flying Dutchmen struck at 2:04 and 16:26 in the first frame, and tacked on their third and eventual game-winning goal at 8:14 in the second. Junior
Julie Patterson (Trenton, NJ) struck at 3:54 in the third, while sophomore
Sarah Uhall (Greensburg, PA/) tacked on the second unassisted goal at 13:40 in the third. Uhall's goal was her first of her Navy and Gold career.
Lebanon Valley outshot the Colonels 38-23, and won the faceoff battle 33-22. Senior
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) and sophomore
Addy Olson (Naples, FL/) split time in net and combined for 35 saves, while the Flying Dutchmen combined for 19 saves. The Colonels return to the Toyota SportsPlex on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. to face the Flying Dutchmen in a rematch and to conclude their 2021-22 season.
