No. 7 Wilkes Men's Basketball Set for Postseason Matchup against No. 2 Stevens
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's basketball squad is set to travel to Hoboken, N.J. to face the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom Conference Championship Quarterfinal battle.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Wilkes enters as the seventh seed in the MAC Freedom playoffs after a 5-11 record in the regular season. The Colonels are 5-7 away from home.
 
Sophomore Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) is the MAC Freedom leader with 16.5 ppg and his 9.3 rpg rank fourth in the league. Fisher is fifth in the league with 1.6 bpg, seventh with 1.5 steals-per-game, and eighth with a .485 field goal percentage.
 
Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) is second in scoring at 14.9 ppg. He is also tenth with 6.1 rpg. Marshall is seventh in the conference with 3.5 apg and is ninth with a .484 field goal percentage.  He averaged 18.5 ppg in the two matchups against Stevens this season.
 
Matthew Davidheiser (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) is third on the team with 9.6 ppg. Davidheiser leads the Colonels with 37 made three pointers and is third in the league with a .420 three-point shooting percentage. Sean Coller (Hershey, PA/Hershey) (32 made threes), Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) (28), and Nickerson DeMelfi (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park) (25), have also made an impact from beyond the arc for the Colonels this season.
 
Wilkes is sixth in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense at 70.9 ppg while ranking fifth in scoring defense at 70.8 ppg.
 
Stevens swept the regular season series with a 70-56 victory on Saturday afternoon.  The Ducks finished 12-4 in conference play and are currently ranked sixth in Region IV in the latest NCAA Division III polling.
 
Alec DiPietrantonio leads the squad with 14.1 ppg, fifth in the MAC Freedom as a whole, and shoots .545 from the field, fourth in the MAC Freedom.  He is also tied for second in the conference and leads the team with 11.0 rpg and is seventh in the conference with 1.4 bpg.  Jack Spellman is fifth in the conference with 8.8 rpg, seventh in the conference with .594 shooting percentage, and first in the conference with 2.7 bpg.  Matt Crowley is tied for fifth with 3.6 apg.
 
DiPietrantonio scored 21 points against the Colonels this past weekend and has averaged 17.5 ppg and 10.5 rebounds per game in his two games against the Navy and Gold.  Crowley averaged 12.5 ppg and 4.5 apg in both matchups.
 
Stevens is eighth in the MAC Freedom with 66.3 ppg and is second averaging 62.8 ppg.
 
The Colonels are 3-3 in the series since 2019-20, having dropped both games against Stevens this season.
