Lerch's Big Day Leads Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Over Wilson 17-2
 
CHAMBERSBURG, PA – Wilkes University's Domenica Lerch (Northampton, PA/Northampton) led all scorers with eight points on three goals and five assists to lead the Colonels to a 17-2 non-conference victory over host Wilson College Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes improved to 1-4 overall on the season following the road victory while Wilson dropped to 1-3 on the young season.
 
Wilkes raced out to a 5-1 lead  at the end of the first quarter thanks to two goals each from Lerch and Savannah Bauman (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley).
 
The Colonels then outscored the hosts 8-0 over the second 15 minutes of play to take a commanding 13-1 advantage to the break. Breanne Fulling (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) began the scoring run with a goal off a helper from Bauman fourteen seconds into the quarter. Bauman then added her third of the game off an assist from Brooklyn Pedana (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) followed by Laura Bayzick (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area) reaching the back of the net with an assist credited to Lerch to push the lead to 8-1 with 11:45 left in the half. Camryn Devitt (Northampton, PA/Northampton) joined the scoring with another helper from Lerch and Bayzick and Lerch both called their own numbers to extend the advantage to 11-1 with just under six minutes left until the break. Sam Mullen (Dover, PA/York Catholic) and Maleah Cobham (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) finished off the scoring for Wilkes as the Colonels took a 12-point lead to the half.
 
Bauman, Pedana, Devitt and Cobham each scored in the second half as Wilkes led by double digits the final thirty minutes of play.
 
Wilkes outshot Wilson 37-13 while posting 37 ground balls. The Colonels also owned the circle winning 15-of-22 draw controls throughout. Wilkes was also a perfect 14-for-14 in clear attempts in the contest.
 
Bauman finished with six points on four goals and two assists to join Lerch in double figure points. Pedana followed with four points on one goal and three helpers while Devitt posted two goals and one assist. Bayzick scored three times while Cobham reach the net twice. Mullen and Fulling each scored once with Mullen adding an assist.
 
Ashley Coughlin (Northampton, PA/Northampton) and Samantha Scott (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) split time in net for Wilkes with Coughlin picking up the win with one save.
 
Wilkes returns home Monday, March 21 with a home contest against Keystone College starting at 6:00 p.m.
