Wilkes Women's Tennis Falls 6-3 Against Oneonta
KINGSTON, PA – Visiting SUNY Oneonta raced out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play then clinched the match with wins in four of six singles flights on way to a 6-3 non-conference victory over the Wilkes University women's tennis team Sunday afternoon at TK Academy.
Wilkes slipped to 4-5 overall following the home defeat while Oneonta improved to 10-5 overall in dual matches.
Oneonta claimed wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles before the duo of
Dasha Yakhnis (Verona, NJ/Verona) and
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) scored an 8-5 victory at No. 2 pairs for the Colonels.
Oneonta then clinched the match with wins at No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 in singles play. Greenman took her No. 5 singles match 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 while
Alexa Cieri (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) won No. 4 singles in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.
The Colonels continue their home stretch on Tuesday hosting MAC Freedom foe Lycoming College at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
