Wilkes Women's Tennis Stays Perfect in MAC Freedom Play with 9-0 Win Over Lycoming
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes women's tennis team moved its MAC Freedom record to 2-0 after posting a 9-0 shutout over visiting Lycoming College Tuesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
The Colonels evened their overall record at 5-5 following the home victory while Lycoming dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in MAC Freedom matches.
Wilkes stormed out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play as the teams of
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees)/
Alexa Cieri (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) won 8-3 at No. 1,
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer)/
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) 8-2 at No. 2 and
Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township)/
Dasha Yakhnis (Verona, NJ/Verona) 8-0 at No. 3.
Yakhnis went 6-2, 6-0 for the win at No. 1 singles before a 6-2, 6-2 Klein victory at No. 2. Amerise was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 3 followed by Cieri at No. 4 winning 6-3,6-2. Farmer posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 and
Abby Bielecki (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) rounded out the Wilkes singles winners with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 decision at No. 5.
Wilkes is back in action Friday traveling to The College of New Jersey for a non-league match starting at 3:00 p.m.
