Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Drops Road Contest at FDU-Florham
MADISON, N.J. – The Wilkes University Colonels women's lacrosse squad traveled to face FDU-Florham in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom matchup Saturday.
The Colonels (3-6, 1-1 MACF) hung around for the first quarter, but the Devils (7-1, 1-0) raced past the Navy and Gold on their way to a 21-4 victory.
Brooklyn Pedana (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) put the Colonels on the board with a free position shot at 10:55 to make it 2-1 in the first. The Devils would score twice before
Savannah Bauman (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) managed a man-down goal at 1:56 before
Domenica Lerch (Northampton, PA/Northampton) scored at :31 to finish the frame down 4-3. The two teams would trade goals to start the second period, with Bauman taking a successful free position shot at 12:28, but FDU-Florham would outscore the Colonels 16-0 for the rest of the game.
Ashley Coughlin (Northampton, PA/Northampton) recorded nine saves in the loss. Four FDU-Florham players scored three or more goals, with Marissa Peck leading both squads with four goals. Bauman led the Colonels with a pair of goals.
The Colonels look to bounce back with a home tilt next Wednesday against Arcadia at 6:00 p.m. in Schmidt Stadium. The Navy and Gold won last year's matchup 8-7 at Arcadia.
