Palladino and Ormsby Reach 100-Point Milestone in Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Setback to Misericordia
DALLAS, PA – Wilkes University men's lacrosse seniors
Luke Palladino (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) and
Eric Ormsby (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) each reached the 100 career-point milestone Wednesday night during a 17-6 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) loss at Misericordia University.
Wilkes fell to 4-11 overall and to 0-6 in the conference with the loss. Misericordia improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the league.
The Cougars scored the game's first eight goals before
Tyler Knappenberger (Orefield, PA/Parkland) scored with 1:33 left in the first quarter on a play where Ormsby picked up an assist for his 100th point. Palladino then scored with 9:42 left in the second quarter again from Ormsby to make it 8-2.
Following two Misericordia goals,
Dillon Kadis (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) scored unassisted. A goal with one second until half gave the Cougars an 11-3 lead at the break.
The Cougars outscored the Colonels 4-0 in the third quarter.
Palladino notched his 100th point with 8:24 left in the fourth off an assist from
Alex Myers (Cortland, NY/Cortland). Following two Misericordia goals the Colonels finished the scoring with
Kyle Sokol (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Palladino finding the net late in the game as Myers picked up an assist on the last goal.
Brendan Keegan (Middletown, NY/Pine Bush) led Wilkes with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Kain Turner (Telford, PA/Souderton Area) also added five ground balls.
Ryan Lasher (Warrenton, VA/Liberty) played the first 40:48 in goal for the Colonels allowing 15 goals with 13 saves.
Daniel Cox (Stratford, CT/Stratford) played the final 19:12 as he made seven saves with only two goals allowed.
Matt Coates earned the win for Misericordia with six saves in the first half. Chris Straub and Sean Wallace then combined for seven saves in the second half. Robert Wagner led all scorers with seven points on five goals and two assists.
Wilkes returns to the field Saturday for a MAC Freedom game at Stevens Institute of Technology starting at 1:00 p.m. in Hoboken, N.J.
