Lasher Sets Single Game and Single Season Saves Record; Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Falls at Stevens

HOBOKEN, NJ – Senior goalkeeper Ryan Lasher (Warrenton, VA/Liberty) made a single-game program record 29 saves and also surpassed the single-season saves record, now with 235, but the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team fell 20-5 at Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action.

Lasher also passed the 400 save milestone in his career, now standing at 410 career saves.

Wilkes dropped to 0-7 in the conference and 4-12 overall with the loss. Stevens remained unbeaten in the league at 6-0 and are now 8-7 overall.

The Ducks started the scoring 2:09 into the first quarter before Kyle Sokol (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) tied the game off an assist from Alex Myers (Cortland, NY/Cortland). Stevens scored the final six goals of the first quarter to lead 7-1 after 15 minutes.

Eric Ormsby (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) scored his team-leading 34th goal of the year to open the second quarter, again assisted by Myers. Ethan Weaver (Olney, MD/James Hubert Blake) wrapped up the first half scoring off an assist from Ormsby on the man-up as the Ducks led 11-3.

Stevens outscored the Colonels 4-0 in the third quarter.

Luke Palladino (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) opened the fourth quarter scoring with a pass from Weaver and the duo also struck late in the game again.

Weaver led the offense with three points on one goal and two assists. Hunter Riley (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa Central) had a team-high five ground balls while Brendan Keegan (Middletown, NY/Pine Bush) and Colby Opromolla (Patterson, NY/Carmel) each had two caused turnovers.

Jack Savarese led Stevens with six points on three goals and three assists while Mikey Whiteside had a game-high four goals. Conner Park had a game-high eight ground balls for Stevens. Jake Zeyher made four saves in the first 39:15 for the Ducks to earn the win.

Lasher's career day came in 54:37 of action as he registered the new record of 29 saves. Daniel Cox (Stratford, CT/Stratford) made two saves over the final 5:23.

Wilkes returns to the field to close out the season with Senior Night on Wednesday as the Colonels host King's College at 7:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
