Wilkes Men's Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision to RIT
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team fell in its final non-conference match of the season dropping a 7-2 decision against RIT Sunday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes slipped to 7-7 overall while RIT improved to 9-9 on the season.
RIT began the match with two wins in doubles play before taking five of six singles flights on way to the non-conference victory.
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) and
Nick Putney (Norfolk, MA/King Phillip Regional) secured the lone doubles win for Wilkes winning 8-6 at No. 1.
Gibson then notched a hard-fought 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles for the Colonels second point of the match.
The Colonels travel to FDU-Florham Tuesday for a MAC Freedom match at 3:00 p.m.in Madison, NJ.
