Wilkes Men's Tennis Earns 5-4 Victory Over FDU-Florham
MADISON, NJ – The Wilkes University men's tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-4 MAC Freedom victory over host FDU-Florham Wednesday afternoon.
Wilkes improved to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in MAC Freedom matches. FDU-Florham dropped to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in league matches.
Wilkes led 2-1 after doubles play thanks to wins from No. 2 pairs
Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast) and
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) at No. 2 (8-4) and
Connor Frey (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) and
Jacob Bosler (Elkton, MD/Elkton) at No. 3 (8-4).
Rathe and Bosler then took their singles matches at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively in straight sets before
John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior) clinched the victory for the Colonels with a thrilling 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 2.
The Colonels close out MAC Freedom play Saturday with another road match at Arcadia University starting at 12:00 p.m.
