Wilkes Women's Tennis Defeats FDU-Florham 7-2
MADISON, N.J. – The Wilkes University Colonels women's tennis squad entered the final week of the regular season with a trip to face Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe FDU-Florham Devils Wednesday afternoon.
The Colonels (8-6, 5-1 MACF) took down the Devils (6-6, 2-4) 7-2, winning all three doubles matches in the process. After a forfeit at the no. 3 doubles slot,
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and
Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) earned an 8-1 victory in the second doubles matchup, before
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and
Dasha Yakhnis (Verona, NJ/Verona) took a 8-5 victory to complete the sweep.
A pair of forfeits in the no. 5 and 6 singles slots gave the Colonels the clinching points for the victory, but Amerise took the second slot in 8-2 fashion before
Alexa Cieri (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) wrapped up the Colonels seven victories with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
The Colonels are scheduled to wrap up their 2021-22 regular season with a trip to face the Arcadia Knights in Glenside, Pa. on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for noon in a series that the Colonels lead 7-0 in the live stats era, including a 5-1 victory in the 2020-21 season at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
