Wilkes Women's Volleyball Sweeps Clarks Summit 

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA – Wilkes University women's volleyball sweeps three sets as they defeat Clarks Summit University 3-0. Wilkes earned their three victories 25-11, 25-12, 25-19. 

The first set saw a back-and-forth competitive match start to the game as Wilkes had an early lead 10-8 with kills from Alexis Reedy (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra Area), Kelsey Carroll (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe), Allison Murie (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), and Hope Ousey (Exton, PA/Henderson). The Colonels would push the momentum and go on a 15-3 run to take the first set 25-11.  

The second set Wilkes would continue their run as the Colonels would score 13 of the first 14 points in the set. Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) would help with a couple serving aces as Nicole Fitzpatrick (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley), Lylah Oswald (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing), and Jessica Salus (Shavertown, PA/Lake Lehman) all got kills during that run. The Defenders would get three points in a row, but Wilkes continued their attack and secured the second set 25-12. 

The third set saw the Colonels earn the first four points behind Ousey and Emily Lass (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) kills. Clarks Summit would not fall behind as they would take the lead 9-7. Wilkes would retake the lead on a 10-1 run to make the set 17-10. Cassel, Ousey, Lass, and Ally Sheridan (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover) would get their own kills during the last stretch as they would take the third set and match 25-19. 

Ousey led the Colonels with eight kills, with Reedy and Murie tying for second with five kills apiece. Cassel earned 26 assists in the match, while earning eight digs and eight serving aces. Ali Yordy (Fairfield, PA/Fairfield Area) earned five assists and seven digs in the matchup. 

Wilkes continues their road matchups as they travel to Misericordia University on Wednesday in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action at 7:00 p.m.
