Wilkes Women’s Soccer Goes to Draw with Hood

Wilkes Women's Soccer Goes to Draw with Hood

FREDERICK, MD – Wilkes women's soccer team goes on the road and ties with Hood College 1-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels record goes to 2-5-1 on the season while the Blazers are 2-2-3.

The first half saw Wilkes work their offense to push the pace, outshooting Hood 7-3. The Colonels would get on the scoreboard in the 30th minute, as Cesia Diaz (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) would pass the ball to Kailee Harwick (Souderton, PA/Souderton) and she would hit the back of the net to give Wilkes the lead. The score would stay the same as they would head into halftime.

The second half would see Hood begin to get momentum and keep up with the Colonels. Kiana Jedlicka (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) and Madison Straub (Franklin, NJ/Franklin) would have opportunities to extend Wilkes lead, but were denied by the Blazers goalkeeper.

After getting a corner kick, Hood was able to tie the game in the 77th minute. The Colonels would not be able to get any shot off in the last 13 minutes, with a corner kick being their best opportunity that was taken away by an offsides call in the 90th minute.

Straub, Jedlicka, and Kayla Fernandez (Berwick, PA/Berwick Area) would have two shots apiece, with one of those shots being on goal for all three players. Goalkeeper Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) would finish the day with five saves.

Wilkes will stay on the road as they travel to Marywood University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.in non-conference action.
