Wilkes Field Hockey Upended Against Ramapo 2-0
EDWARDSVILLE – Visiting Ramapo College scored one early goal then added a late insurance tally on way to a 2-0 victory over the Wilkes University field hockey team Wednesday night at Schmidt Stadium.
Wilkes dropped to 2-6 overall following the non-conference defeat while Ramapo improved to 7-2 overall on the season after the road victory.
Ramapo struck first as an initial shot off a penalty corner was deflected in by Chloe Heller just over eight minutes into the first quarter.
The teams played a scoreless second and third quarter before Ramapo added an insurance goal early in the final frame when Mariah Tovar drilled a shot off another corner.
Ramapo outshot Wilkes 31-0 while garnering 23 penalty corners.
Carly Eidle (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished with 18 saves in net for the Colonels.
Wilkes returns to MAC Freedom play Friday hosting DeSales University at 7:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
