Wilkes Field Hockey Falls to York (PA)
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University field hockey team was shutout by visiting York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium. The Spartans took the non-conference game 6-0.
Wilkes stands at 1-1 on the season following the loss while York improved to 2-0.
Carly Eidle (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) was strong for the Colonels throughout the game as the junior goalkeeper made a career high 19 saves.
York scored with 1:08 remaining in the first quarter to open the scoring. The Spartans added two goals in the second quarter and three in the third frame before the two sides went scoreless in the final 15 minutes.
The Colonels return to action on Wednesday for their first road game of the season when they travel to Elizabethtown College for a 4:30 p.m. game.
