Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Finishes Season Series with Manhattanville
RYE, N.Y. – Host Manhattanville College raced out to a 4-0 lead after two periods on way to a 5-2 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory over the Wilkes women's ice hockey team Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes slipped to 3-10-1 overall and 3-7-1 in UCHC play following the road defeat. Manhattanville improved to 9-6-1 overall and 9-2-1 in league contests.
The Valiants scored two goals in the first period then added two more tallies over the second twenty minutes to take a 4-0 lead.
Savanna Maxon (Anchorage, AK) notched her first goal at Wilkes at 10:27 of the third period to cut the deficit to 4-1 before Manhattanville added its final goal seven minutes later.
Emma Guzdek (Amherst, NY/) rounded out the scoring for the Colonels when she scored off an assist from
Bella Kaczorowski (Anchorage, AK) with 2:01 left in the game.
Emma Swansburg (Shelburne, NS) made 33 saves for Wilkes including 20 in the second period.
The Colonels return to the Toyota SportsPlex on Friday, January 20 to host Alvernia University in UCHC and MAC action. Puck drop is 5:00 p.m.
