WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's and men's basketball teams will have a short week of competition as they welcome Stevens Institute of Technology in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action on Saturday. The women's game will start off the afternoon matchup at 1:00 p.m. with the men following at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Preview: 
Wilkes comes into the game with a 5-13 record on the season, holding a 4-5 conference record in the MAC Freedom this season. Wilkes is 3-6 at home this season, winning two out of their last three contests inside the Marts Center. The Colonels lost their last matchup to Stevens on January 4 as the Colonels fell to the Ducks 66-39.

Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) leads the Colonels in scoring with 9.5 points-per-game (ppg), which is tied for 14th in the MAC Freedom. Brenna Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) is second on the team with 7.0 ppg and Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) is third with 6.1 ppg.

Matos leads Wilkes with 4.6 rebounds-per-game (rpg). Babcock is second with 4.1 rpg while Horton is third with 3.9. Julia Marino (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) is second in the MAC Freedom with 3.0 assists-per-game (apg), totaling 54 on the season.

Marino leads Wilkes with 35 steals, tied for seventh in the conference with 2.3 steals-per-game (spg). Matos follows behind with 31 steals and is 13th in the MAC Freedom with 1.8 spg. Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) is tied for seventh in the league with 1.1 blocks-per-game (bpg) with 19 total blocks this season.

Shober leads the Colonels with a 42.3 field goal percentage while Horton is tied ninth in the conference with 1.2 threes-per-game, shooting .323 from beyond the arc.

Wilkes is seventh in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense at 51.7 ppg and fifth in scoring defense at 58.7 ppg.

Stevens is 16-3 on the season and is in first place in the MAC Freedom with a 9-1 conference record. The Ducks are 6-1 on the road, losing their last matchup as a visiting team when they fell to Misericordia University 57-52. Stevens won their last matchup against Delaware Valley University 70-54 this past Wednesday. Jess Broad leads Stevens with 15.8 ppg, ranking second in the conference. Elissa Nsenkyire is second on the team and fourth in the MAC Freedom with 14.5 ppg. Leyla Castro and Danielle Cornetta are third and fourth on the team in scoring with 9.3 and 8.5 ppg respectively.

Amber Porrett leads the MAC Freedom in rebounds with 9.8 rpg while Board is 13th in the conference with 6.2 rpg. Castro leads the conference with 3.3 apg as she has 59 on the year. Board is tied for eighth in the MAC Freedom with 1.8 spg and third with 1.8 bpg while Reed is tied for 10th as she averages 1.9 spg.

Board leads the MAC Freedom with 51.2 field goal percentage while Nsenkyrie and Cornetta follows behind on the team while placing eighth and ninth in the conference as they shoot 43.4 and 42.0 from the field respectively. Nsenkyrie leads the team in three-point field goal percentage as she averages .349%, making 22-of-63 from beyond the arc.

Stevens is second in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense with 70.0 ppg and fourth in scoring defense at 53.4 ppg.

Men's Preview:
Wilkes comes into the contest with a 10-8 overall record and 5-4 in MAC Freedom play. Wilkes also enters the game going 6-2 at home this year, winning five of their last six home contests. The Colonels fell earlier in the year to Stevens on January 4 when the Ducks won 69-64 over Wilkes.

Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) leads the Colonels in scoring to start the year with 13.1 points-per-game (ppg) which puts him tied for eighth in the MAC Freedom. Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) follows behind with 11.8 ppg while Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) averages 11.1 ppg. Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) and Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) round out the Colonels scorers with 9.2 and 7.3 respectively.

Fisher is tied for fifth in the conference with 7.2 rebounds-per-game (rpg) as he leads the Colonels. Marshall follows with 5.8 rpg which is 11th in the league. Merrifield is second in the conference with 3.6 assists-per-game (apg) while Zvorsky is tied for 11th with 2.8 apg.

Matthew Davidheiser (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) is currently shooting 45.3% in three-point field goals, which leads the MAC Freedom conference. Merrifield holds fourth place in the conference in three-point field goal percentage with 41.8% from beyond the arc, making 37 three-pointers on the year. Fisher is third in the conference with a .589 field goal percentage and tied for fourth with 1.5 blocks-per-game (bpg).
