Wilkes Women's Tennis Captures First Landmark Conference Victory Over Susquehanna 9-0
 
SELINSGROVE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team notched a clean sweep of Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon, defeating the River Hawks 9-0 on the road in the team's first conference victory since moving to the Landmark Conference.
 
The Colonels improved to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. Susquehanna moved to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Landmark.
 
Cassidy Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and Zoe Klein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) secured an 8-3 win in the No. 1 doubles slot, while Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and Kensington Edmond (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) swept the No. 2 match 8-0. In the No. 3 slot, Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) and Karlee Yuscavage (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover Area) defeated their opponents by a score of 8-3.
 
Amerise battled her way to 6-3 and 6-2 victories in the No. 1 singles slot. In the No. 2 singles match, Greenman put on a strong showing and bested her River Hawk opponent 6-0 and 6-1. Klein had another solid performance in the No. 3 match, winning 6-0 and 6-1.

In the No. 4 singles slot, Yuscavage put together a pair of 6-3 sets that led her to a match win. Vacula had a lengthy contest in her No. 5 singles match, putting up a 7-6 (10-5) result in the first set before dropping the second by a score of 6-1. In the rubber match, she came through with a 10-5 win that earned her the victory. Edmond took care of business in the No. 6 slot, winning both sets 6-1 and 6-3.
 
The Colonels return to action on Saturday, February 24 when they host Lafayette College at the TK Academy. The first serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
