Wilkes Men's Soccer Falls at Drew in Landmark Match
 
MADISON, NJ – Host Drew University raced out to a 4-0 lead midway through the second half on way to a 5-1 Landmark Conference victory against the Wilkes University men's soccer team Tuesday night at Ranger Stadium.
 
With the road defeat Wilkes slipped to 3-3-4 overall and 1-1-1 in conference matches. Drew improved to 6-3-2 overall and remained unbeaten in league play with a 2-0-1 mark.
 
The Rangers opened the scoring with a goal 14:35 into the match thanks to a shot from Gabe Di Pierro that found the back of the net. Kevin Martinez made it 2-0 just before the first half buzzer sounded as Drew led by two goals after one half of play.
 
Christian Tyson added his sixth goal of the season at 56:44 and Kevin Kiernan scored at 61:11 to extend the advantage to 4-0.
 
Wilkes got on the board with just under 11 minutes left in the match when Spencer O'Neil (Cobleskill, NY/Cobelskill Richmondville High School)l notched his first collegiate goal with a shot into the bottom right of the goal.
 
Nick Venziale closed out Drew's scoring with three minutes left in the contest scoring on a penalty kick.
 
Drew held a 13-7 shot advantage with seven coming on goal. The Colonels garnered two corner kick attempts to the Rangers one attempt.
 
Nick Kinzler (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) finished with two saves in net for the Colonels.
 
Wilkes continues its road stretch Saturday when the Colonels travel to Juniata College for a Landmark Conference matchup at 1:00 p.m.
