Wilkes Women's Soccer Earns First Landmark Victory at Juniata 2-0
 
HUNTINGDON, PA - Goals from fifth year forward Erica Feese (State College, PA/State College Area) and first year forward Erin Edwards (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) proved to be the difference as the Wilkes women's soccer team picked up their first Landmark Conference victory, a 2-0 decision over Juniata College at Gibbel Staduim on Saturday.
 
With the win, the Colonels improve to 3-4-4 overall and 1-2-1 in Landmark play while Juniata fall to 4-6-1 overall and remain winless in Landmark play at 0-3-1.
 
Wilkes opened the scoring quickly, as Feese scored at 7:25 in the first half to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead, her first goal of the year. They continued the offensive pressure throughout the first half, out-shooting the Eagles five to two. Wilkes also led the way with corners six to one in the first 45 minutes.
 
Edwards doubled the Colonel lead at 62:02, rifling a shot from the top of the box into the bottom right corner to make it a 2-0 game. Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) assisted Edwards on the goal. The Colonels' dominant offensive performance continued as they out-shot Juniata in the second half two to one. Wilkes out-shot Juniata seven to three across the full 90 minutes.
 
Lauren Lefchak (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) led the Colonels in shots with three, while goalkeeper Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) made two saves on the day. This game also marks the tenth career shutout for Landis.
 
Emma Greggo, Amelia Yordy, and Savanna Murray tied as the shot leaders for the Eagles, each recording one shot. Avery Zales made one save in net.
 
The Colonels continue their three game road trip on Tuesday, October 10 as they travel to take on the University of Scranton. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
