Bouchard's Hat Trick Leads Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey to 5-2 UCHC Win Over Arcadia
WILKES-BARRE –
Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON) scored three goals, including the first of her career, recording the first hat trick in program history to lead the Wilkes University women's ice hockey team to a 5-2 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory Friday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.
Wilkes improved to 3-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in UCHC play. Arcadia dropped to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in league contests.
Wilkes struck first 4:23 into the game as Bouchard notched her first collegiate goals off an assist from
Lily Zingaro (Collingwood, ON). Arcadia tied the game at one with under five minutes left in the first period before taking the 2-1 lead two minutes later with both goals coming on the power-play.
Bouchard scored her second of the contest :18 into the second period thanks to a pass from
Rachel Morey (Buffalo, WY/) tying the game at two. Five minutes later
Amanda Spreadbury (Suwanee, GA) gave the Colonels their second lead of the game finding the back of the net off an assist from
Milica Velcek (Novi Sad, Serbia).
Bouchard made program history early in the third period scoring her third goal of the game on the power-play with assists from
Tilly Wierdsma (New Hartford, CT) and Spreadbury giving the Colonels a two-goal advantage with 15 minutes remaining. Wilkes sealed the conference victory after
Allie Spencer (Paradise, NL) scored her first collegiate goal with :14 left.
Arcadia held a slight shot advantage at 39-35 with Wilkes winning 33-of-58 faceoffs.
Audrey Milne (London, ON) recorded her second win of the season in the crease stopping 37 shots.
The two teams complete the season series tomorrow with puck drop scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex.
